Rayskin Handmade Wooden Surfboards

Rayskin boards look pretty nice, they’re all custom and handmade, but pricing starts at $8000 and the average price is supposedly more like $20,000. That’s a lot of money for a surfboard you’re going to actually ride, so most likely, this is a wall piece. So, if you look at it that way, $20,000 isn’t bad for a one-of-a-kind original piece of art.

Placebo - For What It's Worth

I have such a love/hate relationship with the singer of this band. I find his voice super-annoying, but I like the music a lot. I always wonder if they had a different singer, if they’d be better. But then they might sound like everyone else, and this guy’s voice makes the sound distinctively Placebo. Either way, the more I listen to the new album, the more I like it reguardless of his nasaly voice, and this is a pretty good video.

They had a song in some surf video, but I can’t remember which one. I think it was an Andy Irons part. I’ve also heard them playing during webcasts at contests, so I guess maybe they’re semi-popular in the surf industry. So I’m curious, what do you guys think of this band and the singer (try to overlook his make-up)?

Opinions please.

Creative Destruction EP 5 - Final Filth

Another great short from RUNAMUKVISUALS.COM featuring Wade Goodall and Lee Wilson doing about 150 air-reverses that aren’t good enough to make it into Still Filthy.

Warriors of Radness

I’m not the biggest fan of the Marshall Bros. (burned me one too many times, and there’s a little too much style over substance), but some of the stuff they’re doing with Warriors of Radness is pretty cool I guess. I love the Surf Punks, and they’ve got some great old video footage on their site, so be sure to check that out at least. I bought one of their Surf Punks retro t-shirts, but it fits me like shit so I never wear it. It was a waste of $38.

I can’t figure out this video, and that’s what I like about it. Click it and it will start playing.

Joel Tudor Kookbox 2.0

We mentioned Kookbox a while back, but it looks like Joel is taking the company to the next level. They’re now offering a really nice looking range of long and shortboards, and apparel is on it’s way very soon. Check out the site to see a lot more pictures and video.

We at Kookbox are on a quest for improvement.  Sometimes what we throw away and disregard as unusable or outdated one day turns out to be what we are really looking for all the time…

We’re all incredibly grateful to be at this point in surfing, a time where one can watch Surfing’s progression and simultaneously gain inspiration from our heroes and legends.  We hope that we can help you define your style and obtain the equipment you need to achieve it.

Joel

The name KookBox comes from the first fin’d surfboards designed by Tom Blake in 1929 or early 1930. In the early 1930’s the Cigar Box or KookBox a hollow surfboard/paddleboard was used by certain U.S. special forces in training exercises. The units trained with a Canadian MD and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu expert who wrote a hand-to hand combat guide around the same time.

The brand brings together Joel’s passion for surfboard design and experimentation as well as his inspired journey into the study of the martial arts. Apparel and board logos utilize images found in the manuscripts written by the Canadian Doctor.
